In a striking address at the UN General Assembly on Friday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu presented two maps symbolizing his contrasting vision for the Middle East. The first, labeled as a “Blessing,” outlined a future of regional unity, highlighting partnerships between Israel, Arab nations, and India, with aspirations to connect Asia and Europe through a land bridge between the Indian Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. The second map, labeled as a “Curse,” depicted what Netanyahu called an “arc of terror” stretching from the Indian Ocean to the Mediterranean, orchestrated by Iran.
Netanyahu’s speech, reported by ANI, called for an end to global appeasement of Iran, stressing the need for severe sanctions against Tehran and firm action to block Iran’s nuclear ambitions. His presentation also included maps that controversially marked the Palestinian territories of the West Bank, Gaza, and Syria’s Golan Heights as part of Israel, further inflaming tensions.
“For too long, the world has appeased Iran,” Netanyahu stated. “It turns a blind eye to its internal repression, it turns a blind eye to external aggression. That appeasement must end, and it must end now.”
Netanyahu’s address comes amid escalating tensions between Israel and Iran. Hostilities surged following the assassination of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran in July, an act that Iran has condemned as a “flagrant war crime.” Tensions have further intensified with Israeli strikes targeting Hezbollah in Lebanon, a group backed by Iran.
Sending a stern warning to Iran, Netanyahu declared, “I have a message for the tyrants of Tehran. If you strike us, we will strike you. There is no place in Iran where the long arm of Israel cannot reach. And that is true for the entire Middle East.”
The Israeli Prime Minister’s speech not only reinforced the country’s determination to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons but also underscored its expanding strategic relationships with India and other global partners.
